Evidenced-Based

Treatment

PsychInLawNJ clinicians employ three primary evidenced-based treatment modalities:
  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
    • TF-CBT is a structured treatment model designed to address the affective, cognitive, and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple, and complex trauma.

  • Combined Parent-Child Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CPC-CBT):
    • CPC-CBT is a treatment model derived from TF-CBT designed for children and their parents who are at-risk of or have engaged in excessive or inappropriate physical punishment. CPC-CBT assists children process their abusive experiences and improve safety skills while helping parents adopt non-coercive, positive parenting practices and improve the parent-child relationship.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT):
    • DBT is a psychosocial treatment modal aimed at enhancing one’s ability to manage emotional distress and enhance relationships through the acquisition and application of four core skills: mindfulness (i.e., a non-judgmental focus on the present moment), interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation.
